Why did I embark on this journey?
I am a married 42 year old mother of two, living in the Philadelphia suburbs. I have been a pediatric nurse for over 20 years, and a pediatric critical care nurse practitioner for 15.
As many people experienced, I was worn down and burnt out by the end of the pandemic. The landscape of health care had changed, it had turned into a big business. We lost site of our true meaning, the health and wellbeing of children and their families.
I also found myself lost in motherhood. When asked what my hobbies were, I often found myself searching for an answer. I had no idea what my hobbies were, what did I do do fun?
Then I stumbled onto B. Dylan Hollis cooking reels, making old fashioned recipes. He published a book Baking Yesteryear, a dear friend of mine who lives in the Seattle area and I decided it would be fun to bake our way through this book together.
With starting this project I hope to find my hobby, find my zest for life again.
So, welcome to Baking Through Yesteryear, happy baking.
