When we decided to bake our way through the book, we thought it would be fun to start with the authors favorite recipes.
At first glance I found the idea of this recipe a bit daunting, I had never made anything with meringue before!
I also thought it would be a great opportunity to have my children help.
We took a family outing to the grocery store to purchase our supplies.

Back at home, we were ready to tackle our first recipe. The six year old meticulously diced the apricots, while the three year thoroughly enjoyed smashing the graham crackers. Everyone was mesmerized with the process of egg whites turning into stiff peaks!

Finally, we were ready to carefully fold everything together.

Then it was the hardest part! Patiently waiting for our masterpiece to bake!
One may ask, why is everyone dressed in Star Wars costumes on a random Saturday in August? Well, apparently it was unofficial Star Wars day in our house. What better way to enjoy this fabulous dessert than in costume!
